De Iturbide met with the new viceroy Juan O'Donoju in Cordoba, Veracruz, to sign treaties they approved the main points of the Plan of Iguala. O'Donojú Mason was a man liberal, supported the Cortes of Cadiz and was in favor of the English Constitution and therefore did not reject the independence of the new Mexican Empire. was appointed army chief Trigarante, so troops Vicente Guerrero and other insurgent leaders like Ramon Rayon, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, Pedro Celestino Negrete Guadalupe Victoria and joined the military contingent and marched toward Mexico City, entering it on September 27, 1821, being received with much popular support, consummating the struggle for Independence.
